<p>The highest village in Java is located in Dieng. This plateau lay on +2093-m above sea level, around a group of Mountains. Sindoro and Sumbing are the prominent ones, but there are a lot of other mountains such as Pakuwaja, Sikunir, Prau, etc.</p>
<p>This plateau was formed a long time ago from a huge explosion of one mountain and creates a crater-like fissure in the middle. Then this part was dried out from water and during Sanjaya dynasti they built several small Hindu temples as the praying place for Hindu God, Shiva.. along the time, people named the temples as the characters in Mahabaratha &#8211; Hindu epic.</p>
<p>Due to the cool weather and fertile soil, Dieng plateau is a good place for farming and this is what mostly the locals do for living &#8211; potato farms. The people works for tourism/hotels are coming from nearby town &#8211; Wonosobo.<br />
Dieng Village is a good basecamp to see Dieng as there are several cheap hostels or even rented village&#8217;s house and you can rent a bike-taxi to take you around the attraction places.</p>

<p>After eruption of volcano Merapi last year (2010), there are much change along hiking trail Pasar Bubrah &#8211; Summit of Merapi. Mostly half of the trail up summit dominated by volcanic sand, easier to be descended but harder to be ascended. Simply, the trails can be divided into two sections of phase:<br />
1) Sandy Section: This section dominated by volcanic sand. Walking is much harder due to easily to slide backward.Try edging and walk by walking stick are the best ways to make the ascent easier.<br />
2) Solid Rock Section: At the end of sandy section, there are two options:<br />
* Turn left: Follow volcanic rock formation up heads for summit. The rock is solid but little big steeper. Using hand to keep balance while moving up is the best way to tackle this section.<br />
* Turn Right; The trail is not totally consist of sand, but also gravel, unstable volcanic rock and dust.Rock fall from upper side always direct to this section, so&#8230;always watch up ( Specially when there are many other hikers ), and considered to wear helmet.</p>

</div>
<div><strong>Sukuh Temple, </strong>Compared to Borobudur or Prambanan, Java&#8217;s famous Buddhism and Hindu icons, Candi Sukuh (Sukuh temple), discovered by Sir Thomas Raffles in 1815, is not that legendary, yet it deserves a visit due because of its antiquated and unique characteristics. Located in Sukuh village, around 35 kilometers east of Surakarta, Central Java, the Javanese-Hindu temple is perched at around 910 meters above sea level on the western slopes of Mount Lawu.</div>
<div>To get to the temple, one can simply head to Tawangmangu, a famous tourist destination on the slopes of Mt. Lawu. This is not hard to find thanks to bold road signs. Just be cautious of the precipitous ascent to the temple. You should make sure your vehicle is in good shape, because the road climbs a 45 degree incline!</div>
<div>Sukuh temple has three concentric terraces, connected by ascending alleys. The main temple is situated at the last terrace. Unlike Hindu or Buddhist temples which have square shrines, Candi Sukuh&#8217;s main structure has trapezium shape, resembling those made by the Mayan civilization in Central America.</div>
<div>On the entrance to the main structure there was once a huge phallus figure [around 1.85 meters high] &#8211; now on display at the National Museum in Jakarta &#8211; adorned with four testicles just below the tip of the penis; reliefs of a kris (traditional dagger or sword, believed to have mystical powers) blade, the sun and moon; and an inscription indicating the date 1440, explained Slamet, a local guide explained.</div>
<div>One striking feature of Sukuh is that many of its figures, both animal and human, are depicted with bold genitals, such as shown by a man holding his penis.</div>
<div>A relief of a lingam (phallus) and yoni (vulva) at the entrance clearly depicts sexuality, yet it cannot be considered pornography, since Sukuh Temple&#8217;s reliefs and statues symbolize the birth of life and spiritual liberation. Local people believe this point is sacred too, offering flowers to this artifact. In fact, there is a myth that says this relief can test a girl&#8217;s virginity. If a girl walks over the relief and the kain* she is wearing is torn apart, then she is no longer a virgin.</div>
<p><strong><a href="http://paradizzo-jogjatour.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/cethoblog.jpg"><img class="alignleft size-medium wp-image-734" title="cethoblog" src="http://paradizzo-jogjatour.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/cethoblog-300x224.jpg" alt="" width="300" height="224" /></a>Cetho Temple. </strong>From the earlier temple, it was a winding road down and then ascending up another steep mountain, in fact this was even steeper than the earlier road. This stretch of road was very scenic as there were waterfalls all along the way and mostly it was tea plantations. Everywhere you see, it was green with tea hedges. At 1400 meters above sea level, stands this beautiful temple called Cetho Temple, built in the 13th Century by the Majapahit Kingdom which was then under the Brawijaya V reign.<br />
It was a steep walk up a small cliff heading to the temple, but this was only for a very short distance. And above that, it was quite similar to the earlier temple, only much bigger. Here there were platforms and then a small flight of steps and then a flat terrain with the lingga yoni which spreads over 2 meters length. Here there is also the emblem of the sun which is the symbol of the Majapahit empire. On the whole, there are 14 terraces before one reach the main shrine at the top.Once we passed the first terrace, there was a statue of the King Brawijaya and his wife. Further up on the second terrace, there is a statue of a guardian deity. On the higher platforms, there are small shrines built to other guardian deities and also that of a Lingga or phallus.<br />
This is a Lord Shiva temple but at the top, what you find is that the main shrine looks similar to that of the Sukuh temple, being like a pyramid in shape without any deities.  The main deity is the lingga yoni formation which we saw at the third platform where rituals are performed. This entire mountain range is filled with villages and all the villagers there are Hindus. There is also a great influence of Balinese architecture on the entrance doors which are a replica of that commonly found in Balinese temples. In fact, all the houses at this villages also had the similar architecture of entrance. One has to be there in order to experience the serene atmosphere at this temple coupled by the wonderful mountain surroundings and the cool foggy weather</p>
<p><strong><a href="http://paradizzo-jogjatour.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/tawangblok.jpg"><img class="alignright size-medium wp-image-733" title="tawangblok" src="http://paradizzo-jogjatour.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/tawangblok-268x300.jpg" alt="" width="268" height="300" /></a></strong><strong>Tawangmangu / Grojogan Sewu. </strong>Tawangmangu is a small town in situated at the foot of Mount Lawu. It is known for the nearby waterfall Grojogan Sewu, which is done up as a place for the Javanese to come on a day out, and it makes a lovely refreshing break with the cool mountain air. The impressive waterfall is surrounded by forest and hundreds of small monkeys live there. You walk down lots of steps to the base of the waterfall, and then you can sit and watch the monkeys. You can also go in the waterfall if you want, and eat rabbit satay and other foods. The food sellers will spread out a rug for you on the ground. Grojogan Sewu is one to two hours drive from Yogyakarta.</p>

<div>Borobudur is Hindu – Budhist temple. It was build in the nineth century under Sailendra dynasty of ancient Mataram kingdom. Borobudur is located in Magelang, Central Java, Indonesia.</div>
<div>Borobudur is well-known all over the world. Its construction is influenced by the Gupta architecture of India. The temple is constructed on a hill 46 m high and consist of eight step like stone terrace. The first five terrace are square and surrounded by walls adorned with Budist sculpture in bas-relief. The upper three are circular.</div>
<div>Each of them is with a circle of bell shape-stupa. The entire adifice is crowned by a large stupa at the centre at the centre of the top circle. The way to the summit extends through some 4.8 km of passage and starways. The design of borobudur which symbolizes the structure of universe influences temples at Angkor, Cambodia.</div>
<div>Borobudur temple which is rededicated as an Indonesian monument in 1983 is a valuable treasure for Indonesian people.</div>

Merapi is the youngest and southernmost of a volcanic chain extending NNW to Ungaran volcano. The steep-sided modern Merapi edifice, its upper part unvegetated due to frequent eruptive activity, was constructed to the SW of an arcuate scarp cutting the eroded older Batulawang volcano. Pyroclastic flows and lahars accompanying growth and collapse of the steep-sided active summit lava dome have devastated cultivated lands on the volcano&#8217;s western-to-southern flanks and caused many fatalities during historical time. Since 1953, activity has been characterized by extrusion of lava into the summit crater, with periodic lava dome collapse and nuée ardente formation. Summit lava dome growth has continued since the 1969 gas explosion. It is monitored from the Merapi Volcano Observatory (MVO) in Yogyakarta.</div>
